How to Take Action this Hunger Action Month
Feeding America established September as Hunger Action Month, a time dedicated to help people take a stand against food insecurity. Whether you have an hour to spare, a few dollars to give, or a voice to raise, every action makes a meaningful impact in the lives of our neighbors.
As the month comes to a close, we want to share a few ways that you can take action, not just this September, but all year round. There are four simple ways you can take action today:
Donate
Financial contributions allow us to stretch every dollar further through bulk purchasing and local supplier partnerships. Even a small recurring monthly gift ensures that we are able to keep our pantry shelves stocked year-round.
Volunteer Your Time
Volunteers truly are the foundation of everything we do. Whether that’s helping stock the shelves or greeting our neighbors with a friendly face, your time directly connects food with people in need.
Host a Food & Essentials Drive
Gather your friends, co-workers, or neighborhood group to collect high-demand items, such as canned protein, non-perishable pantry staples, and personal hygiene products.
Spread the Word & Advocate
Raising awareness is the first step in breaking down the stigma and ensuring those in need know where to find support. Talk to your friends and family about food insecurity in our area, share our posts on social media, and advocate for policies that strengthen community nutrition programs.
