How HMRC Helps our Local Communities
We at the center believe that no one in our community should ever have to worry about where their next meal will come from.
That is why it is important to understand that overcoming food insecurity requires more than just emergency food relief. It requires dignity, choice, and a supportive safety net. Here are just some of the ways that we work to ensure our neighbors get the nourishment they need to thrive:
Accessible Food Assistance: We provide nutritious, fresh, and shelf-stable foods through our weekly food pantry program.
Prioritizing Fresh & Healthy Choice: We realize that good health begins with good nutrition. That is why we partner with the Dexter Community Garden, Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine and other local distributors and donors to provide fresh produce, dairy, and lean proteins whenever possible.
Dignity-Centered Support: We aim to create a warm, welcoming environment where everyone who walks through our doors is treated with respect and care.

Food assistance serves as a major source of financial relief. When families don’t have to worry about how they will afford groceries, they can then direct their limited income toward rent, utilities, healthcare, and education. By bridging the food gap, we’re helping families build resilience and provide them with long-term stability.
None of this work would be possible without the help of local volunteers, generous donors, and community partners.
